President’s Corner – April 2023

President's Corner - April 2023

April! We have entered the 2nd quarter of the year. Easter…and we’re approaching the end of the semester. Oh my, for some…and for others, graduation day can’t arrive soon enough! As we move from one main event to the next, one holiday to the next, one month to the next…and so on, please don’t forget to adjust your pace and savor/enjoy the moments. Often, we are so completely immersed in the planning, preparations, and execution of our engagements, that we miss out on the enjoyment piece. Let’s strive to be more intentional about “enjoying the journey”.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our ELC and committee chairs who are serving in various capacities. They volunteer several hours to fulfill their roles and are committed to providing leadership to this club. I challenge all HUAC-GWDC club members to connect with a committee, “to move away from being an observing member and become a participating member”. Yes, we are approaching the end of the fiscal year (June 30th) and anticipating the summer break, but there is still so much more we can accomplish with your fresh ideas, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment.

At our April General Body Meeting, the fundraising committee will share more details about our May campaign, and the events committee will update you on the Red, White, Bleed Blue Freshman Sendoff Cookout and silent auction. Also, please note, this is an election year for our club. The Nominating Committee is currently seeking candidates for all elected positions. Elections will be held in May.

The following committees still need your support in the areas of fundraising, events, and infrastructure. Speaking of Infrastructure, if you haven’t viewed our revitalized website, please do so…you will be extremely pleased! There are a few additional updates still underway, but it is operational with current information. Thanks to our web consultant, Allena Staples, and to our former webmaster - Billy Mathis, who served in this role for several years. Also, Billy has sponsored the annual website maintenance cost since its inception. See, www.dcbison.org

A few volunteers are needed to assist with real time updates to the website. Training will be provided.  Your comments are welcomed!
